Centerville High School Thanks for A Great Year! Congratulations are in order for the 2002 Centerville Winter Guard. What an outstanding job these 22 ladies did this season! We started the season off with a lot of young and inexperienced members and ended the season with one of the most talented winter guards that I have taught here in my 11 years. Not only did they learn how to perform and how to spin but they learned what team work was all about. At the WGI Championships the winter guard performed in the preliminary round of competition at the Dayton Convention Center and finished 3rd place in their round. This meant that they would move on to the semi-finals round where they would place 4th in their round. This was exciting because they took the top 5 groups from that round into finals. We were in!!!! That was a great feeling for the guard. Their finals performance was held in the UD Arena on Saturday morning where the guard performed their best show of the season. They finished 7th in their class and the girls did not want the season to be over. We could not have been as successful as we were without the help of so many people. First I would like to thank the staff. Robin, Byron, Shannon, Kara, and Mike did a great job. They are the best staff around. We are very lucky to have them working with us. Next I would like to thank all of the parents who helped throughout the season. The guard moms, the flag moms, the prop parents ETC. We couldn't do this without you and all of your support. It also means the world to the girls to see all of your familiar faces in the audience and behind the scenes cheering them on and supporting them. It won't be long until we begin a new season but I know that we will never forget this one. Thanks
for a Great Year, 2002 Show This year the Centerville Winter Guard presents our show called “ON The 50.” We took a hint of marching band, mixed it with winter guard, put it together with the music Candide by Leonard Bernstein and came up with a great idea! This show has come together wonderfully. The music is perfect, giving the designers all the right places for visual effects. And the fact that the girls love the show has made it easier to finish. Our guard may be young, but that hasn't stopped them from working hard! This is the first time we have ever had our show done in time for the first performance. The girls will be wearing a royal blue uniform and a band shako. The uniform is a marching band uniform done up color guard style. Our tarp will be painted to look like a marching band field and we have also used the props from the fall show and just repainted them. Some things for you to look for during our show are: Blue shakos, drum major maces, a drum major, old school drill and choreography and flag exchanges. Please come out and cheer loudly for the guard at the shows or practices. We are ready to put on a great show that all will enjoy! Previous
