One Call Now
The One
Call Now phone system and the Jazz Connection email
system databases will be cleared and re-populated after
July 23rd. All band families need to make sure they
"re-sign-up" during Dessert Night, if you had not
previously done so during Rookie Night. A log sheet will
be available Dessert Night to add your family's
communication information. Or, complete the
One Call
Now form on the website. We apologize to the 2007,
2008 and 2009 families for making you go through the
sign up again, but we're now able to have 2 phone
numbers per family. The excessive file maintenance to
remove system entries for graduates, add the 2nd phone
numbers or correcting missing information, etc. has made
this database purge-and-fill necessary. Thank you for
your patience! Joe and Sandy F.

A friendly reminder about
Jazz Camp Parent Night (7/28) at Miami University, Oxford:
1. All kids need to be picked up after the Parent Show
Friday evening. There will be NO bus transportation for
students to return to the school. If you cannot get to
Miami to pick up your student, you will need to make
alternative arrangements with another family. Plan to
arrive at Miami around 5:30 pm to give yourself time to
find a place to park, to get your student's luggage
(Morris Hall) before the show and to setup your chairs
around the practice field for the show start at
approximately 6:30 pm.
2. If you did not get a Visitor's parking pass from the
Miller's at Dessert night, she has many copies at her
house in a plastic container on the front porch. The
back side of the pass has a street view of Miami
campus that identifies where Morris Hall and the
Practice Field are located. The Miller's house is at 30
Tranquil Trail. (Directions - Rt. 48, go south of Alex
Bell, past Bob Evans and turn right onto Tranquil Trail
OR Rt. 48 going north, past Incarnation Church and
turn left onto Tranquil Trail). The Miller's house is on
the south side, the 2nd house from the Rt. 48 corner.
3. Be careful where you park at Miami. Many of the
streets have "no parking" signs in along various parts
of the street(s) and cars will be ticketed if parked
where there's a sign posted or by yellow painted curbs.
4. You can find directions
here.
5. Finally, be careful driving, especially on a Friday
night! Many of the roads to/from the campus are
two-lanes and twisty/turning.
Dessert Night
Dessert Night is Sunday,
July 23rd, starting at 6:00 pm.
This delicious evening will kick-off two weeks of
marching band camp! Bring your appetizers and desserts
at 6:00 pm in the Band Room. From 6:00 to 7:00, enjoy
the “eats” and socialize PLUS check the tables for the
volunteer sign up sheets, purchase spirit booth items,
order your contest tickets, pay for fooding, turn in the
medical forms, update your email/phone for
communications and more! The general meeting will start
at 7:00pm to provide many informational updates.
If your last name begins
with A-L, please bring your favorite dessert.
For those whose name begins with M-Z, please bring your
favorite appetizer.
IMPORTANT! A copy of your
marching fee statement will be ready and payment is due
in full this evening. If you will not be able to attend
Dessert Night or wish to pay early, please drop your
check into the black box on the treasurer’s middle
porch. If you have any questions, please call Leslie S.
at 434-4397.

Americana Parade - Alumni Request
By popular
demand, and special request of the parade committee, an
encore performance is requested for the July 4th, 2006
Americana Parade. The 2005 performance was a crowd
favorite.....(okay, you didn't eclipse the current Jazz Band
in popularity, but you were the 2nd favorite marching band
performance!). We had 17 class years represented in the
2005 parade!
Check out the
Americana website
for all of the details of this years celebration.
If you have an interest in this repeat performance, or
want to participate for the first time, please send an email
ASAP, and again spread the word to encourage
participation of your fellow alumni band members.....admit
it....you did have fun last year (even though those arms
and lips were sore at the end of the march).
The parade committee chair, Cheryl Meyer, needs a
confirmation from us soon as far as participation.
I don't have the complete list of who participated last
year, so forward this to all who you may recruit for this
event.

be a nominal cost) & email.
We also need a person to be a 'Squad Leader' for each
Class. Let us know if
you can volunteer to contact others in your class.

So mark July 4th, 10am on your Jazz Band Calendar
