Centerville Jazz Band
Show Announcement Update:
May 18, 2005 - For their 2005
competition show, the Centerville Jazz Band will be
performing a show entitled "BLUESprint." The show
concept is inspired by the concept of a blueprint with a
musical twist that opens the door for the band to explore
different genres that have been influenced by "the
blues." Different shades of blue will dominate the color
palette providing a very "cool" image to the show. This
year's show will layout a blueprint for modern, intriguing
symphonic jazz music along with down and dirty, in-your-face
blues in a production that says "Centerville Jazz Band" down
to the last detail.
Telephone Message System - One
Call Now:
May 17, 2005 - Centerville Band
Boosters has signed up for a new service to allow better
communication of information to students and parents. The
service is called One Call Now, which is a telephone message
delivery system. Some of you may be familiar with this
service from sport leagues or scouts. The service calls your
phone number and plays a pre-recorded message with
information relative to your son/daughters or your group.
We will use this system to let the
students know of changes to practices, arrival times, and
cancellation of practice, event, or other important
information that is critical to get out to many in a quick
fashion. The system will also be used to let parents know of
arrival times to pick students up after away competitions,
football games, let parents know the outcomes of
competitions if the could not personally attend. Other uses
will be chairpersons to get information out to others in the
groups, an example would be, the Director of Operations
needing to let the Pit Crew and Cabinet Moms know of a
change in schedule.

Thank You To All WGI Regional
Percussion Volunteers!
|
February 14, 2005 - John
and I would like to give a huge THANK-YOU to all of
the volunteers who helped on Saturday, February 12th
at UD arena for the WGI Regional Percussion Contest.
We would also like to thank the volunteers who were
at CHS and provided housing and practice sites for
various drumlines-all of you contributed greatly to
the financial success of this event for the
Centerville Band Boosters (CBB). We are grateful
that so many people volunteered to work a four-hour
shift or more-some people even stayed the entire
day, from 7AM-11PM. We even had former Jazz band
members and their parents volunteer several shifts.
A BIG thank-you also goes to all of the judge runner
volunteers--you did a great job!
WGI has already received lots
of positive comments from drumline directors about
how well the event was ran with CBB assistance. WGI
has been very appreciative and complimentary of
CBB's involvement with Saturday's event.
John and I thoroughly enjoyed
working with everyone on Saturday. Although there
were several challenging moments with "the ramp," as
usual, all of our volunteers managed to avert any
real problems or injuries. And throughout the day,
all of you were helpful, friendly, and polite to the
visiting drumlines.
Once again, all of you did an
outstanding job. It was also a great way to get to
know many of you a lot better and to have fun, too.
Congratulations to both the "A" & "World" Drumlines
for their exciting performances and their successes
at the competition.
Now we are actively preparing
for the MEPA Regional Drumline and Guard Contest on
March 5th which will be held at CHS. We hope that
many of you will volunteer your time for this event
and that more of our boosters will also
participate-we need and want all of you. John and I
are looking forward to working with you again on 3/5
and 4/2 & 4/3. Thanks again for making the WGI
Regional Contest such a success.
