2001 Theme: Progression

     This program covers the History of Jazz. As each section is performed, it progress from earliest to newest Jazz styles. It also progresses from slowest to fastest tempos.

Four Sections of the Performance:

Ragtime 1:00 minute 1910-1920
Blues 2:08 1930's
Mambo Loco 2:10 1950's
Summer In Central Park 2:15 Modern Era
  • Part A - mellow
  • Part B - medium tempo
  • Final Part - extreme tempo
30 - 40 seconds

40 seconds
(120 beats)
(160 beats)
(215 - 220 beats)

     When completed this performance will initially leave the audience exhausted but exhilarated. This will be a performance that will be remembered and talked about far into the future. Congratulations to all the marching band members, both musicians and color guard, who will ultimately master this performance with great success!
