Jazz Improv & Music Theory

v15n5wordleJAZZ IMPROVISATION is for musicians who wish to begin or continue their skills in jazz improvisation. Improvisation is the creative art of playing and creating melodies based on the chord and scale structure of a song. Outside lab practice time will be required. Basic instrumental skills and knowledge of scales is a prerequisite.

MUSIC THEORY (BASIC) is a course designed for students who enjoy music and the basic fundamentals of its creation. Students interested in taking this course should have a basic understanding of music notation and vocabulary.

MUSIC THEORY (AP) is a course that is reserved for students in the top performing ensembles (i.e., Wind Symphony, Symphonic Orchestra, or Forte) or students who have taken the Basic Music Theory Course. Students are given advanced instruction on the study of music theory and are enrolled to take the AP Test at the end of the course.

March 15th – MEPA Centerville (HOST – All Hands Needed!)
