Stay tuned this this page and Centerville Band Alumni on facebook for updates. 3rd Alumni Band Appearance Monday July 5, 2010 The Alumni Band will be marching again, this year in the Americana Parade on Monday, July 5. There will be no practice in the days before, just arrive the morning of at 8:30 am (you'll want to arrive early anyways because of parking) and we will have approximately 2 hours to practice before our exciting parade experience. This year we will all wear our old tour shirts (of course they all still fit) and for those of us who go so far back we never had a tour shirt there are some things available from the band booster spirit booth and pictured at the bottom of the page: Look for the alumni band page coming any day now on facebook and respond on there so we know how many to expect on parade day, to let us know if you will need and instrument or flag, and if you would like a tour shirt because there are only a few left. Have you been wishing for a piece of your old uniform? Jackets and hats pictured here starting with the white jackets are available from the band boosters for a donation. We'll make these available on parade day.
25 years of Centerville Jazz Band It's been 25 years since the Centerville Marching Band became "The Centerville Jazz Band." That was 1984 and that makes this year the 25th year of the CJB! Of course the history of the Marching Band program at Centerville goes back way before that time. Click on the History link above to read more about the history of the band and to read descriptions of shows dating back to 1973. Alumni from the '70s and further back, please email us any photographs from your time in the band.
CJB History: We've been adding photographs to the History page and it's starting to look really good. It has become apparent that the scrapbooks for the years '84, '91 and '93 are missing from the band storage area and official archive place. If by chance any one knows where these books are please let us know. If you have photos from those years please email us those so we can put something on those years.
Here is a quote from CJB's very own Doug Lantz (From the 50 Yardline producer and CHS class of 1984): "1982, my sophmore year, was Macy's Parade. 1983 we did God Bless the Child and 1984, my senior year, was the new white uniforms, the new truck, our first Grand Nationals (6th Place) and the new name, The Centerville Jazz Band.
