Josh Carpenter – Magsig Middle School Band Director

Josh Carpenter is the band director at Magsig Middle school. His responsibilities include 6th -8th grade band and Jazz Ensemble at Magsig as well as working with the Concert Band and Symphonic Band in the high school. Mr. Carpenter started the Middle School Percussion Ensemble in 2017 and helps part time with the High School Marching Band (The Centerville Jazz Band), Jazz Ensembles, and Winter Drum Line.

 After graduating from Carlisle High School, Mr. Carpenter joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he performed as a member of the percussion section with the 1st Marine Division Band. While in the military he performed with the Ceremonial Band, Concert Band, and Dixieland Band including performances in Disneyland, San Francisco, Hollywood, San Antonio and the Ronald Reagan Memorial Library.  As a Marine, he spent six months in Fallujah, Iraq where he earned the Operation Iraqi Freedom Medal and Combat Action Ribbon. 

Mr. Carpenter holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies from Miami University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Wright State University.

Mr. Carpenter spends his free time with his wife Chelsey and daughter Eliza doing outdoor activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, and slack lining.
